The Autism Program partners with HBO for premiere of HBO Film's Temple Grandin

The Autism Program of Illinois (TAP) has partnered with HBO on the Chicago premiere of the new HBO Films’ production, “Temple Grandin”, which brings to the screen the story of the best-selling author, animal scientist and autism advocate.

The Chicago Premiere will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at the Gene Siskel Film Center of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The event, which is being specially targeted to the autism community in Illinois, will begin with a reception at 6:00 p.m., followed by a screening of the film at 7:00 p.m. Following the film, a panel comprised of persons with autism, family members, noted researchers and a media representative will discuss the film.

Starring Golden Globe winner Claire Danes in the title role, “Temple Grandin” paints a picture of a young woman’s perseverance and determination while struggling with the isolating challenges of autism at a time when the disorder was quite unknown.

A Season of Giving at The Hope Institute for Children and Families

Dear Friends of The Hope Institute,


This is the season for giving, and the children of The Hope Institute for Children and Families are no exception!

Our children – all of whom have multiple physical and developmental disabilities – have learned the importance of giving back to the community in gratitude for all they have received. It is just one of the many ways in which The Hope Institute prepares youth to achieve their full potential despite the challenges they face.

This year, our senior classes will be serving meals and clearing tables at an agency that helps the homeless. Will, Jamie and Ashley will share Holiday treats and play bingo with residents at a local nursing home, and Drew and Taylor will deliver small gifts to those staying at the local Ronald McDonald House. Jamie, Will, Ashley, Taylor and Drew are not only learning about giving, they are inspiring us all by the ways they are putting those lessons into action!

You are in inspiration to many. Will you continue the legacy of giving by supporting the Children of Hope? SJ-R cover story on Hope's Rachel Rambach picked up by 17 nationwide papers

A story released on Monday by the State Journal-Register featuring The Hope Institute for Children and Families' music therapist, Rachel Rambach, was re-printed Wednesday across 17 newspapers nationwide.  The story, Musician offers lyrical learning with music therapy, was re-printed from Boston to Louisiana.  Great Job Rachel!
